If after three days there is still no sign of improvement, it is best to consult your doctor, because the pneumonia may be worse then previously thought. In most cases viral pneumonia will go away on its own, without medications. The time to cure pneumonia takes approximately 2 to 3 weeks. If you have a severe pneumonia, then hospitalization and treatment in the hospital may be needed.
